The festivals also tend to feature aspects of the Goth subculture, such as fans and bands in goth fashion.
I guess that's because there are so many ways to experience the festival that everybody will find some way to enjoy themselves.
Gothic rock bands grew from the strong ties they had to the English punk rock and emerging post-punk scenes.
The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from post-punk due to its darker music accompanied by introspective and romantic lyrics.
As far as the festival goes I must admit that I am no authority (honest, although several people call me the WGT Oracle!
) and you may find that some of the information on this website is out of date as some aspects of the festival change each year, however I have tried to give an honest and realistic explanation of my own experiences or from people that I know who may have a greater understanding of certain aspects of the festival.
